QueBIT Blog: Preparing for the Future: Changes Coming to IBM Planning Analytics on Cloud

Written by Walter Coffen | Jun 20, 2024 2:00:00 PM

In the ever-evolving world of cloud-based analytics, staying updated with the latest advancements is crucial. We are excited to announce an important update for IBM Planning Analytics on Cloud (PA Cloud) users. As of mid-September 2024, the Rich Tier Desktop will no longer be accessible. This transition marks a significant step towards improving user experience by integrating key functionalities into the modern Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW).

Why This Change?
The removal of the Rich Tier Desktop is designed to streamline operations and enhance the overall user experience. PAW now encompasses the essential features of legacy tools such as Architect, Perspectives, and Performance Modeler. For example, the newly released PAW version 95 includes a robust file management experience within the Modeling Workbench, supporting operations like zip/unzip and copy/paste. This change ensures that all modeling and file management tasks can be performed more intuitively and efficiently within PAW.

What You Need to Do
As we approach the target timeline, we encourage all users to start transitioning from the legacy Rich Tier Desktop to PAW. Here’s what you should consider:

  1. Retrieve Important Files: Ensure you transfer any crucial files stored outside the S:\ drive to your local machine.
  2. Familiarize Yourself with PAW: Begin using the new file management capabilities in PAW to get accustomed to the updated workflows.
  3. Explore Alternatives: Use FTP/SFTP tools for file management needs post-transition.

Stay Informed
To help you prepare, reminders and additional information will be posted on the login screens of the Rich Tier Desktop. Our team is here to support you throughout this transition.
